Love does not exist. I console to that fact and point out reasons to further prove it.

Attraction:
a scientific reaction dating back to early human evolution, where the male species insinctively chose the more attractive female species in order to produce healthier offsprings in the future; it's hardwired in all of us as a primal instinct, thus settling as a base need --to reproduce more effectively our own kind for the generations to come.

Care:
a basic maternal and/or paternal instinct evident in most mammals in the animal kingdom. Its primary function is to protect our offsprings from external forces that would otherwise cause harm and moreover prevent our kind from progressing further.

Love:
a chemical reaction in our brain that results from a ratio of attraction and care. Responsible for this is a hormone called serotonin, a hormone that heightens our mood and numbs the pain receptors in our body.

Love as a concrete feeling/emotion? I highly doubt it. If it were to be real, it'd only be ephemeral. Nothing is immortal.

But then, I always thought to myself... What is this lingering between us? Was I wrong about the concept of love?

Herewith presented before my atheistic arms someone who understands my emotions; a person, emerged from thousands upon thousands of generations, upon a genetic code so specific a form. You, my inamorata.
The human being who made my life more exciting than anyone else in this universe, the human being who showed me the values of life itself, the human being who kissed my lips and grew these chemical reactions in me tenfold.

You are the antithesis of everything I ever said. Even as our bodies wither away into the abyss of space and time we will still have this something between us. Someday, we will understand the true definition of love. But as of now, I conclude only one statement.

I love you.
I borrowed some phrases from Doctor Manhattan from the movie Watchmen, and the title I also borrowed from a song by Coldplay.
It's about the conflict between knowledge and love, by which the latter succeeds after the narrator professes his love for the woman and forgets his own concept of love, that it "does not exist".

Are there any issues regarding clarity? Is the pacing of the story too prompt or too short? Feedbacks are welcome. :)

At first, I scanned through the story (I'm a very lazy person :P) and I skipped to the bottom and read the lines "Someday, we will understand the true definition of love. But as of now, I conclude only one statement. I love you." I just wanted to let you know that those three sentences are one of the most touching things I've ever read. Very well done. :)

Wicked great. I love how you set out to prove a point and as a result prove the opposite. Very nicely done.

I'm not sure the first bit is right, I have always found that in studying biology it is always the female who chooses the male, and the male will fight over the female. Or in some cases the male will just hop on to the female even if the female has chosen someone else. Anyway yeah, whatever I'll shutup XD

But anyway this is quite an interesting approach to this sort of view of love.

I think you made it very clear to me that Love is how you look at it. If you been in any loving relationship then you throw away any science by hind it, and go after that love right?

Awesome!! but you made me use my brain!! *Brain melt down*

I wrote a story based off the song 'The Scientist' by Coldplay ^.^

This is quite an intriguing piece. This shift against such a logical argument works well to get your message across. Great work.
